In what was expected to be an epic battle, Jean-Luc Melenchon has been declared the winner of the French Presidential election. Exit polls had earlier suggested that the far-right candidate, Marine Le Pen would emerge victorious in the election
Le Pen has been very vocal about French foreign policies especially as relate to Immigration and Israel/Palestinian debacle. Le Pen promised to enforce strict immigration policies and even deport immigrants who fail to assimilate into the French culture.
Le Pen’s rhetoric inspired many voters to go all out to vote for the far left candidate Jean-Luc in the elections. There were thunderous celebrations by liberals as the result was been announced.
The new French President will have a lot of work on his table. In his speech, he promised to visit the Israel/Palestinian crisis and emphasized on the need to recognize the Palestinian State. Analysts and opposition will wait to understand his foreign policy before engaging on sensitive matters such as this.
