On what was a shock and an obvious lapse of security detail, former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attack on his life at his rally in Pennsylvania last week.
The shooter who was later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks was seen by Trump supporters climb the roof of the building next to the venue of Trump rally. It was later learnt that the roof of that building was designated for the SWAT team who was worried about the hot weather. Apparently, the shooter took advantage of that lapse to climb the roof where he targeted president Trump.
The shooter was immediately neutralized by the secret service. Trump, while delivering his speech to his supporters turned his cheek when the shot was fired. He then turned around and touched his ear and immediately laid down on the floor while the secret service agents formed a wall around him. It was a bizzare moment to behold. Trump, in defiance of the attack raised his fist and urged his supporters to fight while being led out by the secret service.
In his remarks after the incident, Trump said the incident impacted on him and has forced him to alter his RNC presidential acceptance speech to unite the country. He said if he had not turn his cheek at the point, he wouldn’t be alive today. This is as the RNC is holding their convention this week where they will unveil Trump as their presidential candidate in the November election. Evidence shows Trump is recuperating and is already back to his campaign trails as he accepts his nomination this week.
